Our team is made up of diverse, passionate individuals with expertise in a wide range of topics – from sustainable development and education to project management, gender equity and finance. We are united in our shared belief in the power of youth and their communities to drive long-lasting change through education.

International Volunteer Team

We accept volunteers and interns in Honduras who want to commit to 6 months or more of active engagement in our work on the ground. We also work with volunteers around the world who support with writing grants, running crowdfunding campaigns, and managing our social media.

Antonia McGrath

Antonia is one of educate.‘s Founders. She has lived and worked in Honduras intermittently since 2014 as a teacher, volunteer and researcher. Aside from her work at educate., she is a PhD Candidate at the Center for Latin American Research and Documentation (CEDLA).

Andrea Torrens

Originally from Spain, Andrea has a background in International Relations and worked extensively in Colombia before taking up her current role as Partnerships Coordinator at the United Network of Young Peacebuilders in The Netherlands.

Shobhendra Srivastava

Shobhendra has 13+ years of experience leading and supporting global organisations in the areas of leadership, strategy, finance & transformation. Over the years, contributing to the field of education has given him the most joy. Supporting education and children is the primary reason for his being a part of educate.

Las Lagunas, Arada, Santa Bárbara

Ruber Mejía is the only teacher at the Las Lagunas Primary School, where we supported one of our first libraries in 2019.

La Florida, Catacamas, Olancho

Nery Molina is the only teacher at the La Florida primary school in the mountains of Catacamas, Olancho. He led his students and community in starting the La Florida School Library in 2019.

Las Delicias, Trinidad, Santa Bárbara

Profe Gueyby is the Director of the Las Delicias primary school on the outskirts of Trinidad, and one of the class teachers. She led the school community in starting their school library in 2021.

El Progreso, Yoro

Profe. Zaida is the school director of the Adrian Mejia primary and secondary school on the outskirts of El Progreso, Yoro. She led her community in starting the Adrian Mejia School Library project in 2018.

Trinidad, Santa Bárbara

José Luis is the director of the Guadalupe Ulloa primary school in Trinidad. He was the project leader of the Guadalupe Ulloa School Library project in 2018.

Kindergarten Director and teacher Magdaly Pérez led the start of the Trinidad Kindergarten Library project in 2018.

Bessy is the only teacher at the La Alegria primary school, in the mountains of Trinidad, where we supported a library project in 2021.

Profe Yessenia is the director and a class teacher at the El Tigre primary school just outside of Trinidad. She and other community leaders worked together to lead the opening of this library project in 2022.

Profe Karen is a teacher at the primary school in the village of El Carrizal, Trinidad, Santa Bárbara, where she also leads the school’s library since 2025.
