2022 truly surpassed all our expectations. We started off the year by launching our high school scholarship programme as schools reopened after more than two years of being closed due to the pandemic, we brought our Projects Coordinator Walter onto the team as a part-time paid employee, and we signed a contract with the Municipality of Trinidad to co-create the Youth Center and Municipal Library in Trinidad, Santa Barbara. We ended the year with the center’s inauguration, more applications for our university scholarship programme than ever, and with several new dedicated partners supporting our work.
Watching this growth is nothing short of exhilarating. Our first generation of high school scholars are now acting as leaders for an incoming group as we double our programme for the coming year, including two new university scholars. Our vision remains clear: to continue to expand on our scholarship programme and to include within it support for our scholars’ holistic personal, academic and professional development, while facilitating spaces of learning and community engagement through our school and community libraries.
With a space to call our own and a community of engaged youth, we are excited for the year ahead!
