“There is a deficiency, a poverty of books in our country,” says Magdaly Perez, Trinidad’s head Kindergarten teacher. Unlike many rural areas, Trinidad has a Kindergarten where children in pre-school age come during the mornings to learn. Parents and community members frequently come together to create resources and keep the wonderful early childhood centre running, but age-appropriate books had long been an unreachable resource.
In July 2018, educate. helped to start a small classroom library at the Kindergarten with about 100 Spanish-language early reader books.
