What is the Communications Team?

The Communications Team is based in Amsterdam. We oversee all of educate.‘s external communications, including our social media but also our website, blog and other media relationships! As a team we work to spread the philosophy and mission of educate. and to widen our community through engaging content and stories.

The role of a Social media Manager

In the role of a Social Media Manager you will take the lead on managing educate.‘s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter)!

We use social media to share the stories from our work in Honduras, such as about the progress of our scholarship students, the way a school library is being used since its inauguration, or the impact of our leadership trainings at the educate. Youth Center. To share these stories accurately and authentically, you will be in touch with our Projects team to receive information straight from our communities in Honduras (speaking Spanish is therefore a big plus!). Your job will be to write the posts in a way that is ethical and engaging, so that our supporters around the world can follow along with the process and impact of our work. You will also design and implement social media campaigns to drive donations, which makes a huge and direct impact!

The main tasks will include:

  • Produce engaging, consistent and original content for all social media platforms that spreads the philosophy and mission of educate. (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter) in line with our branding
  • Implement a social media strategy focusing particularly on Europe and Honduras 
  • Design and implement social media campaigns for fundraising campaigns 
  • Collaborating with other educate. teams on communications projects
  • Analyse and provide insight on social media growth

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with initiative, vision and drive to take our social media to the next level!

  • A background in international development, politics or similar, and an understanding of the themes surrounding educate.‘s work
  • A strong understanding of and affinity with educate.’s mission and philosophy of development
  • Fluent in English (Spanish is an added bonus!)
  • Keen interest in social media strategy and day to day management
  • Organisational skills
  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and passionate!

The commitment:

Our team, members commit 5 hours per week on average. Most hours are flexible, plus weekly meetings on Thursday evenings. 

Minimum 6-month commitment.
