Fundraising Lead

THE ROLE

educate. is a grassroots non-profit organisation that works to empower children and young people in Honduras through supporting community-driven projects focused on education. We work with communities in Honduras, one of the poorest and most unequal countries in Latin America, to run a scholarship programme that gives high-potential youth from low-income backgrounds the chance to go to high school and university, a Youth Center where we run youth empowerment and leadership programmes on a weekly basis, and we work with schools to start community-driven projects focused on education, such as starting school-based libraries. We believe in the importance of local leadership and working against the non-profit sectors unequal power relationships.

Part of our team is based in Amsterdam, where one of our main roles is raising funds through grant writing. We are looking for a passionate individual with some experience in grant writing and working in the non-profit sector to help lead our 4-person grants team in Amsterdam to take our work to the next level. The role involves close collaboration with our leadership team and providing support and feedback to a small, dedicated team of grant writers.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Fluent in English.
  • Strong writing and editing skills to help our grant writers shape clear, structured, and persuasive proposals.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, ability to work with and actively support a small, passionate team.
  • Strong personal integrity and ethical principles.
  • Ability to manage projects with minimal supervision.

WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF IT?

This position gives you the chance to be part of a growing non-profit team in Amsterdam, and an opportunity to make tangible impact in education for underprivileged youth in Honduras.

You will get training when you first join as part of the team onboarding process, and support throughout your time at educate. You will work closely with the board and leadership team, gaining insight into the workings of a growing nonprofit organisation. The role also involves networking both in the Netherlands and internationally, building educate.’s network with the team, partners, donors, governments etc.

As a small but growing organization, there is significant room for learning and personal development.

THE COMMITMENT

This is a volunteer position of approximately 5-8 hours per week. We have team meetings on Thursday evenings at 6:30pm twice per month.
